First socialcamp in Germany took place in Berlin in June 14-15. One of participants writes about the socialcamp in a blog:
"There were activists, campaigners, NGOs and many others who shared their work, experiences and visions with an open spirit. Particularly, the mixture of participants from the traditional German nonprofit sector (social welfare), newer NGOs and activists were quite inspiring. " full article >>
As you can see, a lot of sessions are dedicated to the internet and web2.0 ("Web 2.0 für NPOs", "Fundraising 2.0", "Organisation 2.0"). Looks like NGOs in Germany are going to use the full power of new media and all of them have clear understanding they can't ignore this influential tool anymore.
German NGO's were inspired by experience of their colleagues from England, who held Social Innovation Camp in April. Both events were sponsored by OneAim and looks like they are going to support SocialCamp EU and SocialCamp Asia as well.
That socialcamps look very likely to the BridgeCamp in Riga as for me. And, obviously, we'll see something alike in this September in Kyiv - it will be the BridgeCamp Kyiv'08 supported by Internet Initiatives.
